The family has been running a Vancouver bed and breakfast for nearly 20 years.  It was in 2000 that Mom's friend suggested to Mom and Jenny to start a bed and breakfast instead of having roommates...and the adventure began.

The first Traveller Vancouver Bed and Breakfast was called Joyce Traveller B&B due to its proximity to Joyce skytrain station in Vancouver east side.   The house was older,  smaller but charming.  The breakfast area was only a nook in the kitchen.  The house is over 100 years old now and it is still standing.  The original windows in the dining room are now on the wall of the Vancouver room now the current bed and breakfast.

In 2006, we moved to our current location (2159 W. 21st Avenue) in the Vancouver west side and started a new Vancouver bed and breakfast.   The old business name no longer applied and we wanted to have a business name that we can carry with us in the future so we called the new B&B -  Vancouver Traveller B&B.    That house was full of character, including a main entrance on the side of the house, instead of the front.  In 2014, Mom retired and Linda took over the family business.

After more than two years of pondering, finally in 2014, we made the difficult decision to tear down the house to custom-built a house with the family, business and environment in mind.  During the construction period in 2015-2016, we rented a house in the prestigious South Granville residential neighbourhood.

Traveller Vancouver Bed and Breakfast - Temporary Location

The construction began in early 2015.  We had the most fabulous architect, many wonderful trades people and city inspectors who helped us along the way.  Through mostly good times, and a few tear-my-hair-out and bang-the-head-on-the-brick-wall moments, the house was finished in early 2016 and we moved on April 1, 2016, April Fool's day.  It was an aptly chosen date because we were fools in moving into a house that wasn't totally finished....but that's another story.

So, including the house we rented while we were building our own, this Vancouver bed and breakfast has had 3 different addresses in three very distinct neighbourhoods, in 4 different houses and run by 3 generations.
