About Us

Vancouver Traveller Bed Breakfast is run mainly by two sisters, Linda and Jenny.  You will bump into other family members who also live in the house.  All of us know Vancouver very well (over 35 years in Vancouver!) and would love to share our love and knowledge for this lovely city with you.

Linda teaches piano and music in the dining area.  The lesson stops at 8:45 pm at the latest.  This means that we are a great choice if you like great breakfasts, conversations with other guests, local perspectives and interactions with hosts.  If you are looking for a quiet place to nap and rest during the day, we probably are not the right place for you as we do talk in normal conversational volumes (Linda was a soprano!), vacuum and work during the day.  Generally, the family's quiet hour starts at 9:00 pm and really kicks in at 10:00 pm.

We love to have good conversations and learn about the guests, their cities and their travels.  It's always fascinating to get to know one another around the breakfast table.

Please note that we are a pet-free & smoke-free environment.  Our rooms are upstairs so we are unable to accommodate guests in wheelchairs.

The House

We designed this house with the B&B, the family and the environment in mind.  Completed in 2016, all guest bedrooms have either Queen or King size bed.  Each room has an en-suite bathroom with bathtub/shower combo or a walk-in shower.  Every room has in-floor heating/cooling powered by renewable geothermal energy.

There is ample free street parking with no time restrictions.

Location

Conveniently located in Vancouver westside, this B&B is close to downtown, Kitsilano, Granville Island, University of BC and airport.  All of them are within 10-20 minutes of drive.  We are three minute walk to two bus lines.  No. 16 takes you downtown Vancouver in 10 minutes.  Number 25 bus takes you to Canada Line skytrain station in 5 minutes or UBC in 15-20 minutes.   The Kitsilano neighbourhood is within 15 minutes of walk and the Kits beach is about 20 minutes walk.  From there, you can walk along the Seawall to get to Granville Island in about 10-20 minutes pending on how much you stop to admire the views.  It's a 20-30 minutes car to the airport.   We are a great location if you are tourists and for those who come to Vancouver to attend various workshops and classes, we are also within walking distance to the Hellenic Community Center, the Canadian Center for Peace and Semperviva yoga studios, among others.

History

We have been running a B&B for over 15 years so if you are looking for cozy, clean and eco-friendly bed and breakfast in Vancouver, you have found it.   This is our second location and the third house.  The first B&B was originally run by mom and Jenny in Vancouver east side.  It was a charming older home (about 100 years old) close to a skytrain station.  In 2006, we moved to our current location and started a new B&B.  Mom retired couple years ago and the daughters, Linda and Jenny, run the bed and breakfast with help from the rest of the family.  We started to custom built a house for the family and the bed and breakfast in 2015.  We completed the project in mid 2016. We were conscious about our heavy demands on non-renewable energy in heating the house and water for the guests and the family.  In the hopes of decreasing our impact on the environment, we decided to invest in a geothermal energy system that heats and cools the house and the cottage.  It also provides the hot water.   If you are interested at all in checking out the mechanics for the geothermal system, we would be glad to show our mechanics/laundry room to you.
